Joe was born and raised in Oakmont, PA, as one of the original Baby Boomers.
He was graduated in 1964 from Oakmont High School where he played an integral part of championship basketball and tennis teams, as well as being captain of the 1964 Golf team at historic Oakmont Country Club.
Joe matriculated to Denison University in Granville, Ohio in the fall of 1964. He played varsity basketball and was a member of a golf team that won four conference championships. He was graduated from Denison in the spring of 1968 with a B.A. in Economics.
After a year of graduate studies in Landscape Architecture at North Carolina State, Joe spent a major part of 1969 traveling in Europe.
Intrigued by the influence of European fashion on American culture, and sensing the immense social changes of the times, Joe spent the decade of the ’70′s opening a burgeoning chain of ladies’ clothing stores in Pittsburgh and Florida.
It was in the 70′s that Joe first became aware of the sports service industry. By 1979 he realized that his knowledge of personal service for the retail industry, and his handicapping talents were a combination that surpassed most of the 30 to 40 operators in the industry.
Joe opened the phone lines of Private Players of Pittsburgh in the fall of 1979. As a pioneer of the still growing sports service industry, Joe has been involved in virtually every phase of its development.
For nearly a decade in the mid-80′s, Joe co-authored “Playbook” with Marc Lawrence of Premier Picks. Later he wrote and edited “Power Plays” in conjuction with Steve Turner of Texas Sports Wire.
In the mid-80′s Joe was among the first to operate a group of highly successful 900 numbers, again pioneering industry change.
The 1990′s saw immense change in the area of technology and communication. With nearly two decades of experience, Joe’s expertise and advice were sought by numerous off-shore sportsbooks as they looked to gain a foothold in the industry.
It was also in this decade that 900 numbers were on their way to becoming extinct. Joe again transitioned seamlessly by opening his internet site www.thegreengorilla.com now called www.winningsportsadvice.com
Now it’s 2010. Even after 30 years in the industry, Joe is still seeking new and inventive ways to disseminate his information. Once again, Joe will reinforce his image as one of the true pioneers of this sports service industry.
October 2010, Joe released his latest with the Winning Sports Advice iTunes App. This puts all of his winners at your fingertips on your iPhone, iPad or iPod and is also the Best Value in the Nation. This App releases FB, BKB, Hockey, NHL, NASCAR & Soccer. In the Fall of 2011, we look to add even more sports and several strong handicappers for each sport.
No one has churned out more net winners than Joe in all major sports. Expertise, hard-work, and experience ensure that will continue.
